Dear Arlington SEPTA Community,
We would first like to thank everyone for their support of this year’s Phantom Ball! The 2022-2023 Phantom Ball ticket sales raised almost $1,800 of our $2,000 goal for Arlington’s Special Education PTA (SEPTA). We are incredibly grateful for the generosity and steadfast support of this community. From programming opportunities and trainings, to social engagement occasions and events, to providing mini grants for our APS staff; each donation goes a long way in helping Arlington students with disabilities, their families, and the dedicated educators who work with them.
This brings us to our next announcement regarding this year’s SEPTA Mini Grant Program. For those of you unfamiliar with this program, visit: https://www.arlingtonsepta.org/mini-grants/ to learn more. This year Arlington SEPTA received over $32,000 in grant requests and have roughly $8,000 in the budget to distribute. Due to the unprecedented amount of requests from APS staff, we are once again reaching out to our incredible community in the hopes of partially and/or fully funding as many of the requests as we can.
One way we hope to accomplish this goal is by creating a comprehensive SEPTA Amazon Wish List for items in the Mini Grant Applications that can be purchased through Amazon. The wish list will run through the end of November, culminating on Giving Tuesday, November 29th.
Please take a moment to view Arlington SEPTA 2022-23 Wish List here: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3FGWMCZB4KTIZ?ref_=wl_share
The items on this comprehensive Amazon Wish List will support APS students and staff in programs and schools throughout the county in pre K – through high school. The wish list includes a number of sensory items, such as: flexible seating, fidgets, and self-regulation tools. The list also includes specific toys and materials requested by APS educators to help provide opportunities for their students to develop important communication and social skills, engage in pretend play, and improve both fine and gross motor skills. We hope that you will enjoy giving back to our community in a way that allows you to select the specific item(s) that you would like to donate. You may even wish to involve your own children in this community service opportunity, letting them help select items to donate to APS educators.
If you have any questions specific to the SEPTA Mini Grant Wish List or to Arlington SEPTA’s Mini Grant Program, please contact: minig…@arlingtonsepta.org
Again, we thank you for your continued support of Arlington SEPTA and this important program. Please feel free to share this link: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3FGWMCZB4KTIZ?ref_=wl_share widely with extended family members and anyone interested in helping the Arlington Public Schools community and making a difference!
In gratitude,
The Arlington SEPTA Mini Grant Committee
