Following is a letter sent from Arlington SEPTA opposing Arlington County’s plan to eliminate the Behavioral Intervention Services (BIS) Program. BIS is a critical program in Arlington County and eliminating it would have a profoundly negative impact on students with disabilities.
HERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU CAN DO TO TAKE ACTION BEFORE APRIL 2 COUNTY BUDGET MEETING
- Email the County Board and County Manager – emails below
- Sign up for the March 25 Virtual Open Door Monday with Takis P. Karantonis, Vice-Chair (sign up online starting the Tuesday prior)
- Sign up for the April 1 Virtual Open Door Monday with Matt de Ferranti, Member (sign up online starting the Tuesday prior)
- Speak out at the County Board Budget Meeting on April 2 – Need to sign up to speak 5 days before
- Tell other parents, teachers and/or community members about the loss of this program, and have them speak up too!
