Connections: ABA & Family Support
Connections provides home-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services for children and adolescents under the age of 21, who demonstrate significant impairment in adaptive functioning that is related to either developmental delays or other health conditions. Connections is not a diagnosis-specific program and children with other disorders who exhibit communication and social skills deficits in combination with maladaptive behaviors may qualify for services.
Intensive In-Home (IIH)
Intensive In-Home (IIH) is a home-based, highly supportive and comprehensive program that provides stability for children, adolescents, and their family who are experiencing a mental health crisis. By design, IIH services are more intensive than traditional mental health services as they focus on the stabilization of the child across multiple settings with the goal of decreasing future hospitalizations or other high-level out of home placements.
Mental Health Skill-building Services
Mental Health Skill-building Services (MHSS) is an intensive, home-based service that is designed to assist the client in obtaining independence or stability within the community. MHSS is available for adults who have long-term mental health needs, cognitive deficiencies or dual diagnoses.

Psychological assessments, also known as evaluations or testing, are a therapeutic approach used either in conjunction with or separate from therapy. Assessments are used for many reasons including determining a diagnosis and differentiating amongst diagnoses. Additionally, assessments can be used to obtain services in schools and in an occupational setting. They may also be used as a prerequisite for surgical procedures.

George Mason Center for Psychological Services
Biography
George Mason University’s Center for Psychological Services is the primary training clinic for graduate students in the clinical and school psychology program and serves the community through a range of treatment services, primarily therapy, psychoeducational testing and mental health evaluations. We serve all ages (children, adolescents, and adults) and provide individual, family, group therapy, and couples counseling.
Services are primarily provided by graduate students under the supervision of qualified, licensed professionals. All of our supervising faculty are affiliated with GMU, practicing, teaching, and/or conducting nationally funded research. As leaders in our specialty fields, we keep up to date with the most relevant and innovative developments in assessment and intervention.

Inova Kellar Center has provided behavioral health services for children, adolescents and their families for more than thirty years. Our comprehensive mental health and substance use disorder treatment programs and an innovative special education school support families throughout Northern Virginia and have continued to expand to meet future needs.
The Inova Kellar Center was founded in 1991 in partnership with Inova and visionaries Art and Betty Kellar, who had a strong commitment to serve children and families in the multicultural Northern Virginia region, and is part of the comprehensive offerings of Inova Behavioral Health Services. Preschool Groups – The primary goals for preschool groups are to assist with school preparation, encourage collaborative play, help children label and identify feelings, develop empathy, establish boundaries, develop and maintain friendships, read social cues, and improve imaginary play skills. These play-oriented groups incorporate a variety of therapeutic approaches including the Floortime or DIR method, expressive play therapy techniques, and behavioral approaches.
School Age Groups – The primary goals for school age groups are to help your child develop and maintain friendships, learn to read social cues, identify and process feelings, build confidence, develop empathy, establish better boundaries, strengthen outdoor play skills, and explore feelings about social inclusion and exclusion. These groups also incorporate a variety of therapeutic approaches including the Floortime or DIR method, expressive play therapy techniques, and behavioral approaches.
Adolescent Groups – The primary goals of adolescent groups are to provide a safe environment for preadolescents and adolescents to talk about peer pressure, process their feelings about social interactions, develop and maintain friendships, increase self esteem, regulate emotions, develop empathy, healthfully manage mood and anxiety, and improve family relationships. These groups are tailored to address specific issues raised by group members and clinicians use psychodynamic/insight-oriented, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), dialectical behavior (DBT), and solution-focused therapeutic approaches.
Young Adults Groups – The primary goals of young adults groups (ages 18-25) are to provide a safe environment for young adults to talk and connect with each other around issues related to post-high school/college/career decisions, connecting/maintaining friendships with peers, mood disorders/anxiety and how that impacts their experience as a young adult, and dating/romantic relationships. These groups are tailored to address specific issues raised by group members.
