The SEPTA Advocacy Committee and SEPTA leadership have received a number of serious concerns from parents regarding the Virtual Learning Program (VLP) and we want the community to know that we are actively advocating for critical improvements within the program. Our letter to Superintendent Durán and the School Board from September 30, 2021 can be viewed here: SEPTA VLP Letter.
APS leadership has been engaging with parents to try and understand the full scope of concerns related to the VLP and SEPTA wants to make sure that concerns related to students with disabilities are heard. It is important that SEPTA is hearing from as many parents/guardians of students with disabilities (SWD) in the VLP as possible in order to provide APS leadership with a list of prioritized current concerns.
If you have a student in the VLP with an IEP or 504 we would like to hear from you. Please take a moment to provide your feedback here: https://www.arlingtonsepta.org/community-feedback/ Identifying information will be removed and we will use it to frame our upcoming discussions concerning trends within the VLP.
Additionally, we encourage parents/guardians to join and/or make public comments at the Arlington Special Education Advisory Committee(ASEAC) meeting virtually on October 12th from 7 to 9 p.m. where there will be discussion dedicated to the Virtual Learning Program. https://www.arlingtonsepta.org/event/october-aseac-meeting/
Finally, if parents/guardians of SWD enrolled in the VLP would like to reach out to connect with their Special Education Parent Liaisons you can e-mail them by clicking on their names below:
